Solution

(iv) x+y4-x-y3=13x+3y-4x+4y12=1-x+7y12=1-x+7y=12 ...(1) x+y2+x-y6=123x+3y+x-y6=124x+2y6=124x+2y=72 ...(2)Multiplying (1) by 4, we get:-4x+28y=48 ...(3)Adding eq (2) and (3), we get: 4x + 2y=72 -4x+28y=48 30y=120 y=4 Substituting y=4 in equation (1), we get:-x+7×4=12-x+28=12x=16 x=16, y=4 is the solution of the given equation.
