Solve:

$\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{6}$

Answer 1

Fractions whose denominators are different are called unlike fractions.

$\frac{1}{2}$, $\frac{1}{3}$ and $\frac{1}{6}$ are unlike fractions.

The LCM of the denominator of the given fractions i.e. L.C.M. of 2, 3, and 6 is 6.

$\therefore \frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{6}=\frac{1\times 3+1\times 2+1\times 1}{6}=\frac{3+2+1}{6}=\frac{6}{6}=1$
