As per the question

Javed was given $\frac{5}{7}$ of a basket of oranges.

The fraction of oranges given to Javed + The fraction of oranges left in the basket = 1

$\Rightarrow$ The fraction of oranges left = 1 - The fraction of oranges given to Javed

On substituting the values we get:

Fraction of Orange left $=1-\frac{5}{7}$

$=\frac{7}{7}-\frac{5}{7}=\frac{7-5}{7}=\frac{2}{7}$

Thus,$\frac{2}{7}$ oranges were left in the basket.
