Question

Khanduji has twice as many cows as he has buffaloes. If the total number of cows and buffaloes that he has is 15, how many does he have of each animal?

Let the number of buffaloes that Khanduji has be x.
Then, the number of cows that Khanduji has will be 2x.
It is given that the total number of cows and buffaloes he has is 15.
∴ 2x + x = 15
3x = 15
Dividing both sides by 3, we obtain:
3x3=153 x=5
∴ Number of buffaloes that Khanduji has is 5.
And number of cows that Khanduji has is 2x = 2(5) = 10
