Question

Let triangle ABC~DEF, area of triangle ABC = 169cm^2 and area of triangle DEF = 121cm^2 . If AB = 26cm , then find DE .

Solution

As the triangles are similar
ar(ABC)/ar(DEF)=AB/DE
root(169/121)=26/DE   ( we took root of area because area is  side *side )
13/11=26/DE
DE=26*11/13
     =22cm
