Solution

Respiratory system:

  1. The respiratory system in humans includes the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and the lungs.
  2. The air firstly enters the nose and travels via the nasal chamber, larynx, trachea, and bronchi before reaching the lung.
  3. Air flows through a huge number of microscopic tubes called bronchioles in the lungs before reaching the tiny air sacs known as alveoli.
  4. Alveoli are the tiny air sacs present in the lungs where the actual exchange of gases takes place.
  5. The alveoli are encircled by a large number of capillaries, which are extremely thin blood veins that carry blood.
  6. The oxygen in the air diffuses through the capillaries into the blood and is thus transported throughout the body.
  7. Oxygen is delivered throughout the body via the red pigment 'haemoglobin,' which is found in red blood cells.
