Solution

The correct option is A A- (ii), B(i), C(iv), D(iii)
Gregor J. Mendel is called the ‘father of genetics’ as he gave the ideas of inheritance patterns of how genes are passed onto the offspring. His studies and experiments on pea plants gave us an understanding of the concept of dominance, segregation of alleles and independent assortment of genes.
The chromosomal theory of inheritance was given by Boveri and Sutton in the early 1900s. It is the fundamental theory of genetics. According to this theory, genes are the units of heredity and are found in the chromosomes.
Henking (1891) observed a specific nuclear structure in firebug insects during spermatogenesis. He found that 50% of the sperm received this structure after spermatogenesis, whereas the other 50% of the sperm did not receive it. Henking named it ‘X body’.
Morgan carried out several monohybrid and dihybrid crosses in Drosophila (fruit fly) to study inheritance patterns from parents Drosophila to the offspring as Mendel did in pea plants.
