Body fluids are divided into intracellular fluid (found inside the cell) and extracellular fluid (found outside the cell). Extracellular fluid is again divided into interstitial fluid and the blood.
Interstitial fluid is present in the space between the cells. So, a cell is bathed in the interstitial fluid.
Transcellular fluid is present in the spaces lined by the epithelial cells. Pericardial fluid found in the heart and the cerebro-spinal fluid present in the brain are examples of the transcellular fluid.
