(A) $$C{H}_{4} + 2{O}_{2} \xrightarrow[{[O]}]{KMn{O}_{4}} C{O}_{2} + 2{H}_{2}O$$ (ii)
The above reaction is complete oxidation or combustion of alkanes.

(B) $$2C{H}_{4} + {O}_{2} \xrightarrow[\text{100 atm}]{Cu/523K} 2C{H}_{3}OH$$ (iii)
When a mixture of methane and oxygen is passed through copper tubes at 523K and 100 atm, Methyl alcohol is produced.
It is an example of controlled oxidation.
