The trophoblast is the outer layer arrangement of the blastomeres in the blastocyst and is attached to the endometrium. The mitotic division of the zygote starts as the zygote moves through the isthmus of the oviduct towards the uterus and is called cleavage. The inner cell mass refers to the inner cells of the blastocyst that will differentiate into the embryo later and is attached to the Trophoblast. The trophoblast layer then gets attached to the endometrium and the uterine cells rapidly divide and cover the blastocyst by a process called implantation. The blastocyst becomes embedded in the endometrium of the uterus.
