  • Saprophytic plants grow on dead and decaying matter. E.g., Mold, fungi, yeast, etc.
  • Parasitic plants grow on another plant (host) and have special roots called haustoria. They help in absorbing nutrients from the host plant. E.g., Cuscuta, loranthus, etc.
  • Insectivorous plant grow on nitrogen deficient soil. To compensate for nitrogen deficiency they feed on insects. Their leaves are modified to trap insects. E.g., Utricularia, drosera, pitcher plant, etc.
  • Pea plants are leguminous plant. They live in symbiotic association with certain bacteria (e.g. rhizobium). Bacteria lives in the root nodules of plant and fixes atmospheric nitrogen.
