Solution

The roots of a quadratic equation ax2+bx+c=0, where a,b and c are constants are given by
x=b ± b24ac2a.

Consider the equation x2+8x=0.
Here, a=1,b=8 and c=0.

x=8 ± (8)24(1)(0)2× 1

x=8 ± 642

x=0,8

Consider the equation x24x+3=0.
Here, a=1,b=4 and c=3.

x=(4) ± (4)24(1)(3)2× 1

x=4 ± 42

x=3,1

Lastly, in the equation x26x=0, we have
a=1,b=6 and c=0.

x=(6) ± (6)24(1)(0)2× 1

x=6 ± 362

x=6,0
