Uses :
Silicones act as excellent insulators for electric motors.
Straight chain polymers of silicone are silicone fluids. They are used is water proofing textiles as lubricants and as polish.
Silicone rubber retain their elasticity and resist chemical attack.
Cross linked polymer of silicones are used as non-stick coating for pans and in paints and varnish.
Silicone coating are highly stable and non-volatile even on heating. Hence used for high temperature oil bath, high vacuum pump etc.
