Let the cost of the coat be reduced to ₹ $x$

Sales tax = 8% of x = $\left(\frac{8}{100}\right)\times$ ₹ $x$ = ₹ $\frac{2x}{25}$

Amount paid by Mia = ₹ $(x+\frac{2x}{25})$ = ₹ $\frac{27x}{25}$

As per problem, $\frac{27x}{25}$ =1809

Or, x = $\left(\frac{25}{27}\right)$$\times$ 1809 = 1675

Reduced price of the coat = ₹ 1675

Hence, reduction needed = ₹ 1809 – ₹ 1675 = ₹ 134.
