Question

Moment of inertia of a uniform solid cylinder of radius 1 m about its central axis is 1 kg-m2. The moment of inertia of a uniform solid cylinder of the same mass, but of radius 2 m about its central axis is (in kg-m2)

Given,
Radius of solid cylinder 1 (r1)=1 m
Moment of inertia about central axis (I1)=1 kg-m2
Radius of solid cylinder 2 (r2)=2 m
We know that
I1=mr212
m=2 kg
Moment of inertia of solid cylinder 2 about central axis (I2)=mr222
=2×(2)22=4 kg-m2
