Step 1: (i) Work done by Nitin

Work is the product of the component of the force in the direction of the displacement and the magnitude of this displacement.

The work done by Nitin is zero as no force acts in the direction of displacement.

In other words, the only force, the weight $(mass\times gravity)$ acts vertically downward whereas displacement acts along a horizontal surface making an angle of $90°$with force.
