Solution

The correct option is D Two
Male gametophyte
Pollen grain is a haploid structure that represents the male gametophyte because the male gametes are formed from them.
Development of pollen grain
In anther, each cell of the sporogenous tissue can act as a microspore mother cell.
The microspore mother cell undergoes meiotic division and produces a microspore tetrad.
As the anthers mature and dehydrate, the microspores dissociate from each other and develop into pollen grains.
The matured pollen grain contains two cells, the vegetative cell and generative cell.
The generative cell is small, spindle shaped with dense cytoplasm and a nucleus whereas the vegetative cell is large with an irregular nucleus and abundant food reserve.

Male gametes
The generative cell of pollen grain undergoes mitotic division and produces two male gametes.

Final answer
(d) Two
