Question

# Out of the people eligible to vote, $$8\%$$ are between the age $$18$$ and $$21$$. In an election, $$75\%$$ of those eligible and who were between $$18$$ and $$21$$ actually voted. In that election, people between $$18$$ and $$21$$ who actually voted were what percent of those eligible to vote?

A
4.2
B
6.8
C
6.4
D
6

Solution

## The correct option is D $$6$$$$\Rightarrow$$  Let the number of persons eligible to vote be $$x$$. Then,$$\Rightarrow$$  Number of eligible persons between 18 and 21 = $$8\%\, of\, x$$$$\Rightarrow$$  Number of persons between 18 and 21, who voted = $$75\%\, of\, (8\%\, of\, x)=(\dfrac{75}{100}\times \dfrac{8}{100}\times x)=\dfrac{6}{100}x$$$$\therefore$$   Required percentage = $$[\dfrac{6x}{100}\times \dfrac{1}{x}\times 100]\%=6\%$$$$\therefore$$   $$6\%$$  of people who actually voted.Maths
