A student puts five raisins each in two beakers A and B. Beaker A contained 50ml of distilled water at room temperature and beaker B had 50ml of ice cold water. After sometime what will be the observation of the student? State reason for this observation.

Solution

Raisins in beaker A will be more swollen than raisins in beaker B. This is so because osmosis id dependent upon temperature of the solvent particles. Higher the temperature, higher will be energy of the solvent particles, so more endosmosis will take place.
