Question

An 8cm cube has a 4 cm square hole cut through its center. What is the remaining volume, in cm3?

Open in App
Solution

Initial volume of the cube is 8 * 8 * 8 =512cm3

a hole is cut through the center of area 4 * 4=16cm2

it forms a cuboid of dimension 4 * 4 * 8 as it is formed from a cube of side 8cm

so the volume of cuboid formed is 128cm3

so the remaining volume is 512 - 128 = 384cm3
