At what position does a magnifying glass is kept to manify the object?

A magnifying glass is a convex lens.
Suppose both the surfaces of the lens has focal length F.
Therefore to magnify the object, the position should be such that the object is between F and 2F from the lens.
Also if the object is placed between optical center O and focus F, the image obtained is enlarged.
