How are elements arranged in the Modern Periodic Table ?

State the position of (i) Metals (ii) Non–metals (iii) Noble gases and (iv) Metalloids in the

The basic property of arrangement of elements in modern periodic table is atomic number, and the elements are arranged according to the increasing atomic numbers in 18 groups and 7 periods.

Metals have been arranged in left hand side while nonmetals are arranged in right hand side and the metalloids are in the border line of both the metals and non-metals in a zig-zag manner.

The noble gases are arranged in extreme right of the table in 18th group.
