Question
how do political leaders make use of religion to win the election?

Solution
In India the poor, illiterate and underprivileged people vote in larger proportion as compared to the rich and privileged sections.
Political parties and candidates buy votes by gifting clothes and liquors to poor voters and also in the names of religion.
They gain votes based on candidate’s religion because illiterate voters can be easily flattered in the name of religion.
Political parties swear that they provide job opportunities and other facilities and give priority to those belong to candidate’s religion.
At the same time, they pay no attention to people’s religions that are marginal in number.
Also illiterate and poor people vote only for those candidates who are all of same religion believing that they would support them.
