Three Political activities that we could not do in Poland in 1980 , but could do in India were:
a. Poland at that time was characterised by one party system that is the Polish United Workers’ Party that formed the government . The Party was controlled by USSR, a communist state, that did not allow any other party to function in Poland, people could also not freely choose their leaders.
This was not the case in India, as the country was characterised by multi party system that allowed various national and regional level parties to operate offering choice to the people who could freely choose their leaders.
b. In Poland, the ruling Polish party did not tolerate any criticism or dissent. Those who spoke against the party and its leaders were imprisoned. This was not the case in India, as the country allowed freedom of speech and expression to all
to criticise government policy, to freely express their views , though subject to certain limitations.
c. In Poland any group , association independent of the Polish party was not allowed to function. This was not the case with India, which freely allowed its citizens to form groups and associations.
