Question

the induced emf is sometimes called back emf why?

Open in App
Solution

Hi Varsha!

When the flux linked with a coil changes, an emf is induced in the coil. If the reason for change in flux linkage is due to the variation in current flowing through the very coil, then the induced emf opposes the cause which produces it. So, it is known as back emf.

Cheers!!
