Let the number of 50p coins = x

then the number of 25p coins = 52 - x

Total amount = Rs. 21

0.50 × x + 0.25 (52 - x) = 21

0.50x + 13 - 0.325x = 21

0.25x = 8

⇒ x = 8 / 0.25 = 800 / 25 = 32

number of 50p coins = 32

number of 25p coins = 52 - 32 = 20
