Open in App
Solution

Moulting is the shedding of body parts such as skin, feathers, exoskeleton, hair etc. by animals in their life cycle. Not all organisms undergo moulting. It is commonly found in arthropods, birds, amphibians, reptiles and some mammals. Humans do not exactly moult but old skins are removed as a defence mechanism to avoid infections by fungus, bacteria etc.
