why did president allende address himself mainly to workers?why were the rich unhappy with him?

Allende addressed himself mainly to the workers because he believed that it was only them who could change back Chile from a dictatorship to a democracy. Also it was due to the conspiracies of the rich with the military which caused the military coup because they were unhappy with the restrictions put on them by Allende,which had lead Chile to backwardness. Also Allende knew the workers would have to suffer the most and so it was and so before dying he addressed them to tell them about the injustice happening.
