Why is the Rajya Sabha Called the Council of States and the Lok Sabha called the House of the People?? Explain Breifly.

1) Rajya Sabha or Council of States is the upper house of Parliament and it consists of the representatives of the States and Union Territories and persons nominated by the President of India.

2) The members of Lok Sabha are directly elected by means of election and adult suffrage

3) Since it represents people, it is called House of People and is the Lower House of the Parliament.
