Solution

Dear Student,

1) Sodium is an element of group-1. It has only one electron in its valence shell therefore, its valency is 1. Oxygen is a group-16 element with a valency of 2. Therefore, the formula of the compound formed would be Na2O.

2)Silicon is an element of group-14 with a valency of 4. Chlorine is a group-17 element with a valency of 1. Therefore, the formula of the compound formed would be SiCl4.

3) Boron is an element of group-13 with a valency of 3. Flourine is a group-17 element with a valency of 1. Therefore, the formula of the compound formed would be BF3.

4)Aluminium is an element of group-13 with a valency of 3. Oxygen is a group-16 element with a valency of 2. Therefore, the formula of the compound formed would be Al2O3.
