Question

Press the stem of an excite turning folk of frequency 512Hz on a  table having natural frequency 384Hz.

A) what is the frequency of vibration of the at this instance?

B) what is change in the loudness of sound produce? Why?

C) what happen if you press a turning folk of natural frequency 384Hz on the table? Explain

Solution

A) when we press tuningfork on to the table .,it is forced vibration.
frequency of forced vibration is frequency of forcing vibration
Which is equal to 512 hz.
B) after some time the loudness decreases due to energy loss.
C) when pressed with a tuning fork of 384 hz which is the natural frequency of the table ,it will start  to vibrate with high sound and intensity.
The amplitude of vibration increases.
This is due to the process called resonance.
resonance: when applied frequency is equal to natural frequency ,the amplitude of vibration increases.
