It was in news recently, as U.S President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. should recognise Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, an area seized from Syria and annexed in a move never recognised by the international community. Golan heights is a territory that belonged to Syria which was taken over by Israel in 1967. It is surrounded by Lebanon in the north, Israel in the west, Jordan in the south, and Syria in the east. Egypt does not bounds it.
