Statement 1 is incorrect: In 1615 British ambassador Sir Thomas Roe reached the Mughal Court. The British also exerted pressure on the Mughal authorities by taking advantage of India’s naval weakness and harassing Indian traders and shipping to the Red Sea and Mecca.
