After Gandhi withdrew the Non-cooperation movement in Feb 1922, there was political vacuum. Swaraj Party filled this vacuum. It was formed in 1922 and worked as a part of the Congress. It’s important leaders were C R Das, Motilal Nehru etc. It’s programme was entering and obstructing the functioning of the Councils. Along with this, it also advocated the constructive programme of the Congress (abolition of untouchability, promotion of Khadi etc). It’s objective was speedy attainment of dominion status and full provincial autonomy.
