Solution

(i) Decantation is used to separate insoluble solids or liquid from the liquid.

  • Rainwater is a mixture of mud and water. It is purified by decantation.

  • Oil and water also get separated by this method because oil floats up.

(ii) Dissolving more solute in a saturated solution is not possible. Dissolving more solute in a saturated solution requires special conditions, On increasing the temperature of the saturated solution more solute can be dissolved into the solution. This type of solution is called a supersaturated solution.
