Rate of basmati rice last year was $$Rs.40$$ a kg. This year they are costly by $$20\%.$$ What is the price this year ?


Solution

Last year, rate of basmati $$= Rs.40$$ per kg
Increase this year $$= 20\%$$
$$\therefore$$ Increase  price $$ = \dfrac{40 \times (100 + 20)}{100}$$
$$= \dfrac{40 \times 120}{100} = Rs.48$$ per kg
