Solution

ravi is 40 years older than tony,in 5 years, ravi would be twice the age of tony.

Let the current age of ravi is X yrs

Let the current age of tony is equal to Y yrs

X = Y + 40

After 5 years age of ravi will be X+5

After 5 years age of tony will be Y+5

X + 5 = 2(Y + 5)

Substitute for "X" and solve for "Y"::

Y+40 + 5 = 2Y + 10

2Y-Y = 40+5-10

Y = 35 (tony's age now)

Solve for "X"::

X = Y + 40 = 75 (ravi's age now)

Answer : Ravi age = 75 yrs and Tony age = 35 yrs
