Let the distance from home to resort be x km.
Then, Time taken to go from home to resort $= \frac{x}{45}$
Time taken to come back from resort to home $= \frac{x}{40}$
Given, $\frac{x}{40} = \frac{x}{45} + 1 \Rightarrow \frac{x}{40} - \frac{x}{45} = 1$
$\Rightarrow \frac{9 x - 8 x}{360} = 1 \Rightarrow x = 360$
