Question

Solve each of the following equation by using the method of completing the square:
7x2+3x4=0

Open in App
Solution

7x2+3x4=0
x2+37x47=0
Here. a=1,b=37,c=47
x2+37x=47

Now, (b2)2=(37×2)2=9196

Adding 9196, on both sides of equation,

x2+37x+9196=47+9196

(x+314)2=112+9196

(x+314)2=121196
Taking square roots on both sides,
x+314=±1114

x=1114314 and x=1114314

x=47 and x=1
