Question

Solve each of the following quadratic equations:
4x22(a2+b2)x+a2b2=0

Open in App
Solution

a= 4

b= -2(a2+b2)

c= a2b2

Using Discriminant formula,

D= b2-4ac

[-2(a2+b2)]2-4 x4xa2b2

4(a4+b4+2a2b2)-16a2b2

(2a2-2b2)2

x= (-b±D)/ 2a

x= [2(a2+b2)+2(a2-b2)]/8 = 4a2/8 = a2/2

x= [2(a2+b2)-2(a2-b2)]/8 = 4b2/8 = b2/2
