Question

Solve for x and y:

6x+5y=7x+3y+1=2(x+6y1)

Open in App
Solution

6x+5y=7x+3y+1=2(x+6y1)

6x+5y=7x+3y+1

7x+3y+1=6x+5y

7x6x+3y5y+1=0

x2y+1=0

x=2y1 ---(1)

2(x+6y1)=6x+5y

2(2y1+6y1)=6(2y1)+5y

2(8y2)=12y6+5y

16y4=17y6

17y16y=64

y=2

Substitute this in (1),

x=2(2)1=41=3

So, x = 3 and y = 2
