On multiplying (a) by 3 and (b) by 5

15/x+18y=39....(1)

15/x+20y=35.....(2) subtracting, we get:

-2y = 4 ∴ y = -2 put in (a) 5/x+6(-2)=13

5/x = 13+12

5/x =25

x= 5/25= 1/5
