Cheva rice is a traditional rice cooked and serve during the harvest of Magh Bihu in Assam. The rice is prepared as follows:
  • The Cheva rice is first soaked in water for sometime.
  • Water is boiled in a clay pot called Tao.
  • The soaked rice is added to Tao and is allowed to cook.
  • The cooked Cheva rice is served hot with roasted fish, sweet potatoes, and tea.
