Solution

  1. Reflection of sound is mainly responsible for the phenomenon of echo.
  2. Sound produced by the source is reflected back from the hurdle producing an echo.
  3. Angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.
  4. Echo depth sounding is a technique used for the measurement of the depth of the seabed with the help of the echo of a sound.
  5. A combined transmitter and receiver, called a transducer, sends a sound pulse straight down into the water.
  6. The pulse moves down through the water and bounces off the ocean bottom.
  7. The transducer is able to pick up the reflected sound.
  8. Computers precisely measure the time it takes for the sound pulse to reach the bottom and return.
  9. The depth of the ocean is calculated by knowing how fast sound travels in the water.
  10. Thus, The important property which is necessary for a sound wave to be used in this method is the reflection of sound.
