Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is the RNA component of a ribosome and helps in protein synthesis. These structures physically move along an mRNA molecule and catalyse the assembling of amino acids into protein chains. They also bind tRNAs and various accessory molecules needed for the synthesis of protein.
