Solution

Calcium hydroxide is an ionic compound, so its formula describes the ratio of cations to anions. In particular, Ca(OH)2 means that there is 1 calcium ion (Ca^2+) for every 2 hydroxide ions (OH-). It does NOT mean that there is exactly 1 calcium and 2 hydroxides. That is just the ratio between the two ions.

a HCl
b NH3
c CO
d HNO3
e N20
f N02
g N2
h S8
