The correct option is A Both statement 1 and statement 2 are true and statement 2 is the correct explanation of statement 1
The heating becomes from heating the container. When initially heat is given, the container begins to expand. Until the heat reaches the liquid, the container expansion results in decrease in level of liquid. Hence the center of mass falls down.
Once the heat starts reaching the liquid, the liquid expands more than the vessel and thus the level increases then. This results in rise in the center of mass of the system.
