Solution

The correct options are
B Statement (ii)
C Statement (iii)
Gymnosperms are the seed plants whose seeds are uncovered. During reproduction, male and female gametophytes are formed.
  • Female gametophyte produces the egg cell which is enclosed in the ovule, while male gametes are contained within the pollen grain. The fusion of male and female gamete results in a diploid zygote. The endosperm is a pre- fertilization tissue arising from the female gametophyte and hence, is haploid in nature.
  • Siphonogamy is the formation of the pollen tube to transport the male gamete to the female gamete for the process of fertilization, which occurs in both gymnosperms and angiosperms. However, fertilization is not oogamous type.
  • Male and female cones are on the same plant in Pinus, hence Pinus is monoecious.
So, the correct option is 'Statement (ii) and (iii) are correct'
