Solution

The correct option is A Secondary consumer : Tiger, Producer : Grass

A food chain is a chronological series of organisms each depending on other for food. A food web is a complex interlinked network of food chains.

The food chain begins with the producers which are able to make their own food in the presence of sunlight. The sun is the ultimate source of energy. However, it is not considered on the food web.

Autotrophs like grass that obtain the energy from the sun (light energy) and convert it to chemical energy by photosynthesis. Plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create oxygen and energy in the form of sugar. Hence, it is a producer.

Energy from the grass is obtained by deer and rabbits. Hence, these two are present at the second trophic level and are called primary consumers or herbivores.

The energy from deer and rabbit is obtained by the lion and the eagle respectively which are present at the third trophic level, also known as secondary consumers or primary carnivores.

Therefore,
  • Producer : Grass (First trophic level)
  • Primary consumers : Deer and Rabbit (Second trophic level)
  • Secondary consumers : Tiger and Eagle (Third trophic level)
Hence option a is correct.
