(a) Element: A pure substance that is made up of only one kind of atom and cannot be broken into two or more simpler substances by physical or chemical means is referred to as an element.
For eg, Oxygen, Carbon, Sodium, etc.
Compound: A compound is a pure substance, composed of two or more elements, chemically combined with one another in a fixed proportion.
For eg, CaCO3 is a compound molecule.

(b) Carbon Dioxide is a compound that is composed of a carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. The compound formed cannot be separated into constituent elements by any physical method.
